protecting children, cultivating opportunities.

Every child deserves a safe space to learn, grow, and dream. Yet in many coffee-growing regions, the reality looks different, especially during harvest season, when children are at greater risk of entering labor to support their families. On this World Day Against Child Labor, we reaffirm our mission to break this cycle and protect childhood through access to education, care, and opportunity.

At Seeds for Progress Foundation, we believe that education is a powerful tool in the fight against child labor. That’s why we created Seeds to Grow, a seasonal program designed to support the development of children and adolescents in safe, nurturing environments during coffee harvest months. With the support of partners and donors, we’re not just keeping children safe, we’re helping them thrive.

🌱 A Season of Growth

In 2024, we expanded the Seeds to Grow program to new communities, opening 6 Seeds Camps that offered protection, personalized care, and daily meals to children ages 4 to 14. These centers became vibrant spaces of learning, laughter, and support, while their parents worked in the fields.

  • 369 children received educational and emotional support.

  • 41,328 nutritious meals were served.

  • 297 families benefited directly.

  • 253 coffee pickers were supported.

  • 88 smallholder coffee producers participated.

Through these efforts, we addressed five essential components: Safety, Nutrition, Education, Health, and Sustainability.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Community at the Core

Seeds to Grow goes beyond classroom walls. We worked closely with teachers, parents, coffee producers, and entire communities to build awareness about children’s rights and the long-term risks of child labor. This year:

  • 33 teachers were trained in child-centered methodologies

  • 154 parents participated in workshops on child protection and rights

We are proud to say: every meal, every lesson, every smile is the result of shared responsibility and collective action.

On this World Day Against Child Labor, we call on our global community to take action. Let’s invest in education, protect childhood, and cultivate opportunity; one child, one family, one community at a time.
