GROWING READERS:
ONE LIBRARY AT A TIME
We’re proud to share the opening of three new school libraries alongside our partner, the Fabretto Children’s Foundation, in the rural communities of Paso de Caballos, La Esperanza, and Montesinas in Santa Rosa and Esquipulas. Spaces designed to spark curiosity, inspire imagination, and cultivate a love for books among children in coffee-growing regions of Guatemala.
Each library was carefully designed and created with creativity, offering inviting reading environments that comfortably accommodate up to 20 children, a thousand books, and a million dreams. With colorful bookshelves, story-time corners, and child-friendly seating, these spaces are already becoming the heart of the schools, where learning feels like an adventure, not a task.
A school library is more than just a room filled with books; it’s a gateway to imagination, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. For children in rural communities, access to a library means access to stories that expand their vocabulary, strengthen their reading comprehension, and foster curiosity beyond the classroom. Studies show that well-equipped libraries directly contribute to better literacy outcomes and academic performance. But more than that, they become safe spaces where children can explore their interests, build confidence, and nurture a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.

While we celebrate this important milestone, we know there’s still much to do. Many more children in rural Guatemala are still learning in schools without books, without stories, without the joy of reading.
You can help us change that.
